“I started playing with polymer clay beads on leather cords as a child, to make necklaces for my mother,” says Kia Schwaninger, Swiss founder of New York high jewellery house Kia Schwan. “That was my first foray into jewellery making.” She later honed her craft on the Place Vendôme before starting her own maison in the US in 2020. Launched this year, her Colorhythms collection features rings, necklaces and brooches in half-moon shapes with stripes of precious materials offset with diamonds. “The half-circle leaves a lot of room for colour to take centre stage,” she says. – gch
